This article provides an overview of the Composing Messages settings in Ecenica Webmail. Each option allows you to configure how you compose, reply to, and format your emails.
Accessing Composing Messages Settings
- Log in to your Ecenica Webmail account.
- In the left sidebar, click on Settings.
- Navigate to Preferences > Composing Messages.
Main Options
1. Compose message in a new window
- Description: Enable this setting if you prefer to write new emails in a separate pop-up window.
- Toggle: On / Off
2. Compose HTML messages
- Description: This option controls whether emails are written in HTML or plain text.
- Options:
- Always: Compose all emails in HTML.
- Never: Use plain text for all emails.
- On reply to HTML message: Compose in HTML only when replying to an HTML email.
- On forward or reply to HTML message: Compose in HTML when forwarding or replying to an HTML email.
3. Automatically save draft
- Description: Set the time interval for automatically saving drafts while composing.
- Options: Choose between saving every 1 to 15 minutes, or never.
4. Always request a return receipt
- Description: Automatically request a return receipt to confirm that the recipient has opened your email.
- Toggle: On / Off
5. Always request a delivery status notification
- Description: Request a notification when your email is successfully delivered to the recipient’s mail server.
- Toggle: On / Off
6. Place replies in the folder of the message being replied to
- Description: When enabled, replies will be saved in the same folder as the original message, helping to keep conversations organized.
- Toggle: On / Off
7. When replying
- Description: Choose where to place the new message when replying to an email.
- Options:
- Start new message above original: Your reply appears above the original email.
- Start new message below original: Your reply appears below the original email.
8. Forward messages
- Description: Specify how forwarded messages are handled.
- Options:
- Inline: Include the forwarded message inside the body of your email.
- As attachment: Attach the forwarded message as a separate file.
9. Default font for HTML message
- Description: Set the default font and font size for composing emails in HTML format.
- Options: Choose from various fonts (e.g., Arial, Verdana) and sizes (e.g., 10pt, 12pt).
10. Default action of “Reply all” button
- Description: Set whether the default reply button responds to all recipients or only the original sender.
- Options:
- Reply to all: Respond to everyone included in the email.
- Reply to sender: Respond only to the original sender.
Signature Options
11. Automatically add signature
- Description: Choose if and when to automatically add a signature to your emails.
- Options:
- Never: Do not add a signature automatically.
- Always: Always add a signature.
- New messages only: Add a signature only to new emails, not replies or forwards.
12. Place signature below the quoted message
- Description: Choose whether to place your signature below the quoted original message in replies.
- Toggle: On / Off
13. When replying remove original signature from message
- Description: Automatically remove any existing signature from the email when replying.
- Toggle: On / Off
14. Force standard separator in signatures
- Description: Ensure a standard signature separator (“– “) is used when adding your signature.
- Toggle: On / Off
Advanced Options
15. Attachment names
- Description: Set how attachment filenames are encoded.
- Options: Choose between different encoding standards (e.g., RFC 2047/2231 for Outlook compatibility).
16. Use MIME encoding for 8-bit characters
- Description: Enable this option for proper handling of 8-bit character sets in your emails.
- Toggle: On / Off
17. Save in the browser’s local storage (temporarily)
- Description: This option allows saving unsent drafts in your browser’s local storage, in case the network connection is interrupted.
- Toggle: On / Off
Saving Changes
Once you’ve made your desired adjustments, click the Save button at the bottom of the screen to apply your settings.
