Before you consider cancelling your Ecenica hosting service, we recommend getting in touch with our team — we’re here to help. We can help you make better use of the features in your existing Ecenica plan, or suggest an alternative plan.
If you’re unsure whether your hosting is still in use — for example, if you believe the site it was hosting has been replaced or you haven’t accessed it recently — this guide will walk you through the key areas to review before making a final decision.
We do not monitor how you use your hosting, as we respect your privacy. This means we cannot tell you whether the service is actively in use. However, you can check for signs of activity and connected services by following these steps in your Ecenica Dashboard.
Key Areas to Check
1. My Services
- Review all active hosting, email, and domain services.
- Confirm which services are currently live and associated with your account.
Why it matters: Cancelling a hosting package will terminate all associated services, including email and DNS management.
2. Email Accounts
- Look for any mailboxes still configured on your hosting.
- Check if they are actively used or contain stored messages.
Warning: Once cancelled, all hosted email accounts and messages will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
3. DNS Records
- Identify whether any of your domains are still pointing to this hosting service.
- Check if your domain’s website or email depends on the DNS settings in your hosting plan.
Tip: Cancelling your hosting will remove your DNS settings, which can cause your website and email to go offline.
4. File Manager / Disk Usage
- View the contents of your hosting account.
- Assess whether website files, images, backups, or other data are still stored.
Important: Upon cancellation, all stored data is permanently erased from our systems.
5. Email Storage and Archiving
- Ensure any required emails are archived and downloaded.
- Businesses in some countries are legally required to retain email records for up to 6 years for compliance.
Reminder: Deleting a hosting account will also remove access to historical email logs and storage.
Premium DNS Consideration
If you’re using the Premium DNS service included with your Business Hosting, note that this provides:
- DDoS protection for your domain
- Fast DNS response times for quicker website and email resolution
- UK-based nameservers for improved reliability and data locality
Cancelling your hosting will remove access to this service, which may impact your domain performance or security.
Ready to Cancel?
If you’ve reviewed the above and confirmed that the service is no longer required — and you’ve backed up any important data — you can request cancellation by contacting our support team or replying to your existing support ticket.
Once confirmed, we will:
- Remove the hosting and DNS configuration
- Delete all website and email data from our systems
- Terminate access to included services such as email and Premium DNS
Please note: This process is irreversible. Once deleted, your data cannot be recovered.
