WordPress 4.9.2, a new security and maintenance update for the massively popular CMS used worldwide for websites and blogs has been released and is now available with all Ecenica web hosting packages.
The update covers all versions back to WordPress 3.7. We, and WordPress strongly recommend you update your WordPress websites as this release has important security fixes which help keep your website safe and secure.
How do I update?
If you have automatic updates enabled on your Ecenica web hosting package then the good news is your WordPress websites have most likely updated to the new version already.
Manually updating WordPress is very easy. Just log in to your WordPress Dashboard, click Updates > Update Now. Our web hosting packages include daily backups already, but we always recommend making another quick backup using the cPanel backup wizard before making changes to your site.
You can install a new copy of WordPress 4.9.2 in just 1-click with Ecenica Free Apps, available with our web hosting packages. Simply login to your Ecenica Dashboard and then follow the steps for How to Install WordPress from our support knowledge base.
What’s new in WordPress 4.9.2?
A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in MediaElement has been fixed as well as 21 other bugs. According to WordPress’ release notes the release fixes the following:

- is The previous taxonomy-agnostic behaviour of get_category_link() and category_description() was restored.
