How to Fix Email Forwarder Issues and Resolve Error 550

Issue:

Emails sent to a specific address are being rejected with the error code 550: “No such person at this address.”

Cause:

This issue is usually caused by an email forwarder being misconfigured (e.g., set to “:fail” or an incorrect destination).

Resolution:

  1. Check Email Forwarders:
    • Login to Ecenica Dashboard and navigate to Email Forwarders, or log into cPanel to manage forwarders (if applicable).
    • Look for any forwarders directing emails to an invalid address (e.g., “:fail”).
  2. Remove or Correct the Forwarder:
    • If you find an invalid forwarder, remove or update it to direct emails to the correct inbox.
  3. Verify Account Status:
    • Ensure the email account has not been recently deleted and re-created, as this can cause DNS issues.
    • Confirm that DNS settings are correct.
  4. Check Email Routing Settings:
    • Review your email routing settings to ensure they are correct and aligned with your server configuration.

Preventative Measures:

  • Regularly review your email forwarders and routing settings.
  • If issues persist, contact Ecenica support for further assistance.
