How-to enable SSL in Apple Mail

This article details how-to enable SSL encryption for SSL POP3, SSL IMAP and SSL SMTP in Apple Mail on macOS.

  1. Open Apple Mail
  2. Click Mail > Preferences
  3. Click the Accounts tab
  4. Select your Ecenica email account
  5. Click Server Settings
  6. Uncheck Automatically manage connection settings under Incoming Mail Server
  7. Change the following setting:
    • Host Name: Enter mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
  8. Check Use TLS/SSL
  9. Uncheck Automatically manage connection settings under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
  10. Change the following setting:
    • Host Name: Enter mail.example.com, replacing example.com with your domain name.
  11. Check Use TLS/SSL
  12. Click Save
  13. Close the Accounts window
