Step 1 — Open Terminal
- Press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight
- Type Terminal
- Click Terminal in the results
Or (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
Step 2 — Type the Command
In the Terminal window, type the following and press Enter:
traceroute ecenica.com
Step 3 — Wait for It to Finish
The traceroute will run through up to 30 hops. Each line represents a server your connection passes through on the way to the destination. This can take 1–2 minutes.
Step 4 — Read the Results
Each line looks something like this:

Step 5 — Copy the Results
- Click anywhere in the Terminal window
- Press Cmd + A to select all
- Press Cmd + C to copy
- Paste into an email or support ticket
