Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security for your Ecenica account, designed to ensure you’re the only one who can access it even if someone else knows your password.
When you enable 2FA, signing in to your Ecenica account requires both:
- Your password (something you know)
- A six-digit code from your authenticator app (something you have)
This dramatically improves your account security and protects your hosting, domains, and services.
Quick Navigation

What You’ll Need
An authenticator app installed on your phone or computer, for example:
- Apple Passwords – built into iPhone, iPad and Mac
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
- 1Password
- Duo

- Add a new account and scan the QR code
- Can’t scan? Click Show the code to reveal the setup key
- Enter the 6-digit code from your app
- Click Verify OTP and continue
- Save your backup recovery codes in a secure place
Two-Factor Authentication is now enabled on your account.
How to Log In with 2FA
When you sign in to Ecenica Dashboard for the first time on a new device or browser, you’ll need:
- Your Ecenica account password
- The six-digit verification code displayed in your authenticator app
Steps:
- Go to Ecenica Dashboard
- Enter your email and password
- Open your authenticator app
- Find your Ecenica account entry
- Enter the current 6-digit code
- Click Log In
The code refreshes every 60 seconds, so use the current code shown.
Recovery Codes
Recovery codes are backup codes that let you access your account if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Save Your Recovery Codes Securely
Store them in a secure location, for example:
- Password manager (recommended)
- Printed and stored in a safe
- Encrypted file
We do not recommend:
- Plain text files
- Email or messaging apps
- Unsecured locations
Using a Recovery Code
If you can’t access your authenticator app:
- Go to Ecenica Dashboard
- Enter your email and password
- Click Use Recovery Code
- Enter one of your saved recovery codes
- Click Continue
Each recovery code works only once. After logging in, set up 2FA again with your new device.
Regenerating Recovery Codes
To generate new recovery codes:
- Log in to Ecenica Dashboard
- Go to Account Settings > Security
- Click Regenerate Recovery Codes
- Save the new codes securely
Important: Old recovery codes stop working when you generate new ones.
Troubleshooting
My Code Isn’t Working
Check these:
- Time sync – Ensure your device time is set automatically
- Correct account – Verify you’re using the code from your Ecenica entry
- Fresh code – Codes expire every 60 seconds; use the current one
- No spaces – Enter only the 6 digits
I Lost My Phone / Access to my authentication app
Use a recovery code to log in, then set up 2FA on your new device.
Don’t have recovery codes? Contact Ecenica support with proof of account ownership, and we’ll help you regain access.
My Recovery Code Doesn’t Work
Common causes:
- Already used (each code works once)
- Typed incorrectly
- Generated new codes (old ones are invalidated)
If you’ve exhausted all recovery codes, contact Ecenica support.
Getting a New Phone
Before switching:
- Install your authenticator app on the new phone
- In Ecenica Dashboard, go to Account Settings > Security
- Disable 2FA, then re-enable it
- Scan the QR code with your new phone
After switching (if you no longer have the old phone):
- Use a recovery code to log in
- Set up 2FA again on your new device
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 2FA required?
No, but we strongly recommend it for account security.

Contact Ecenica support. We’ll verify your identity and help restore access.
How often do I enter a 2FA code?
Every time you sign in.
Does 2FA affect my services?
No. Your hosting, domains, and services continue running. 2FA protects Ecenica Dashboard access.
