The latest version of WordPress, 5.8 is now available with our WordPress Hosting plans. We take a look at the new headline features.
Full Site Editing
WordPress 5.8 brings Full Site Editing as the newest feature to help you build a website easier than before. The idea behind Full Site Editing is to provide a range of tools and features for you to ultimately build an entire website in WordPress using blocks.
It’s worth noting that Full Site Editing in WordPress 5.8 is an early version, and is a work in progress rather than a finished product. Other popular plugins such as Elementor Page Builder exist today to help you build a website.
WebP Image Support
WebP is a modern image format providing lossless and lossy compression for images you upload to your website. The key feature of WebP is images are on average around 30% smaller than the more common JPEG or PNG images. Large image sizes is one of the key areas which affects how fast your website loads and how much bandwidth your website uses. The new inclusion of WebP support means you can improve the speed of your WordPress websites.

How do I update?
If you have WordPress updates enabled on your Ecenica web hosting package then the good news is your WordPress websites have most likely updated to the new version already.
Manually updating WordPress is very easy. Just log in to your WordPress Dashboard, click Updates > Update Now. Our web hosting plans include daily backups, but we always recommend making another quick backup using the cPanel backup wizard before making changes to your site.
