  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click File Manager.

What directory should I choose?

  • To see all your files choose Home Directory.
  • To view your website files choose Web Root.

How do I upload a file in File Manager?


1. Open the directory where you wish to upload your file. In most cases this is public_html

2. Click Upload.

3. Drag and drop the file you wish to upload or click Select File to browse to the file you wish to upload. Once you have selected a file a progress bar will appear showing you the status of your upload.

What is the maximum file size I can upload in File Manager?

You can upload files up to the size of your hosting account’s free space. For example, if you have 10GB free space you can upload a 10GB file. Please note, large files may take a long time to upload depending on your network upload speed. You may wish to use FTP instead.

How can I delete a file in File Manager?


1. Select a file in File Manager you wish to delete.

2. Click Delete.

3. A pop-up window will appear. Click Confirm to confirm the deletion of your file. By default deleted files will be moved to your Trash folder. Choose Skip the trash and permenantly delete the files if you wish to permenantly delete your file.

How can I unzip or extract an archive in File Manager?

  • Select your archive file.
  • Click or tap Extract.
  • Choose where you want to extract the files to.
  • Click or tap Extract File(s).

What archive types can I extract or create in File Manager?

.zip, .gz, .bz2

How to edit a file in File Manager


File Manager allows you to make immediate edits to your web site files without having to download or upload a new version. This is useful for quick changes.

  1. Select a file in File Manager.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. A pop-up window will appear asking you to choose the encoding for the file. File Manager automatically detects the encoding for the file. In most cases you can click Edit to proceed. If you wish you can manually choose the encoding from the drop-down list. If you want to stop the pop-up appearing every time you edit a file click Disable Encoding Check.

  4. A new tab will open with the file editor. The full path and encoding type for the file will be shown at the top of the window. To save your edits click Save Changes. To discard edits click Close.

How to edit a file using HTML Editor in File Manager


File Manager includes a HTML editor. This lets you edit your web pages and add text, images and styles. You can preview changes before saving.

  1. Select a file in File Manager.

  2. Click HTML Editor.

  3. A pop-up window will appear. Click Edit to proceed.

  4. A new tab will open with the HTML editor. You can use the HTML editor buttons to style text, add images and more. To save your edits click Save. To discard edits without saving simply close the tab or window in your web browser.
