Problem

When you try to send email from your Ecenica email account in Microsoft Outlook the following error message appears

Could not send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 550 Access denied -Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)

Cause

If you’re seeing this error it’s likely SMTP authentication is not configured in your Outlook email app.

Resolution

To fix the error “550 Access denied – Invalid HELO name (See RFC2821 4.1.1.1)” please enable SMTP authentication using the steps in How-to enable SMTP Authentication
