How-to enable SSL in Thunderbird

Setup SSL encryption in Thunderbird for secure IMAP, POP3 and SMTP.

This article explains how to enable SSL encryption for SSL POP3, SSL IMAP and SSL SMTP in Mozilla Thunderbird.

  1. Open Thunderbird
  2. Click Tools > Account Settings…
  3. Select your Ecenica email account and click Server Settings
  4. Change the following settings:
    Server Name:
    Use your Ecenica package’s hostname. For example, server1.ecenica.com
    Connection security:
    Select SSL/TLS
  5. From the left menu, click Outgoing Server (SMTP)
  6. Select your Ecenica email account and click Edit…
  7. Change the following settings:
    Server Name:
    Use your Ecenica package’s hostname. For example, server1.ecenica.com
    Connection security:
    Select SSL/TLS
  8. Click OK
