How to Disable Cache in PrestaShop

If you’re experiencing issues with PrestaShop due to caching or simply want to turn off caching for development purposes, follow the steps below to disable cache in PrestaShop:

Steps to Disable Cache

  1. Access Your Server Files
    • Use an FTP client or log into your hosting control panel to access your website files.
  2. Locate the Configuration File
    • Navigate to the following directory:
      app/config/
    • Look for the file named parameters.php.
  3. Edit the Configuration File
    • Open the parameters.php file with a text editor.
    • Find the following line:
      php
      'ps_cache_enable' => true,
    • Change true to false:
      php
      'ps_cache_enable' => false,
  4. Save and Upload Changes
    • Save the modified file and upload it back to the server if necessary.
  5. Clear Existing Cache
    • Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard.
    • Go to Advanced Parameters > Performance.
    • Click Clear Cache to ensure changes take effect.

Additional Tips

  • If you’re working in a development environment, consider also enabling debug mode by updating the defines.inc.php file in the config folder. Set _PS_MODE_DEV_ to true.

By disabling the cache, PrestaShop will dynamically load resources, which is especially useful during troubleshooting or making frequent updates.
