Gravity Forms is a popular form plugin for WordPress that allows you to create custom forms with ease. By default, it includes both admin and user notifications, which are email alerts sent when someone submits a form. If you prefer not to send email notifications to the user after they submit a form, you can easily disable this feature. Here’s how you can do it:
Step-by-Step Guide to Disabling User Notifications
Step 1: Access Gravity Forms in WordPress
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- In the left-hand menu, navigate to Forms and click on it to see the list of your existing forms.
Step 2: Select the Form
- From the list of forms, choose the one for which you want to disable user notifications.
- Hover over the form and click Edit to access the form settings.
Step 3: Go to Form Settings
- In the form editor, you will see several options at the top.
- Click on the Settings dropdown and select Notifications from the list. This will display a list of all the notifications associated with this form.
Step 4: Identify the User Notification
- In the Notifications section, you should see different notifications for the form. Typically, there will be an Admin Notification and a User Notification (sometimes labeled as “Confirmation Email” or similar).
- Look for the notification that is meant for the user. If you’re unsure, check the notification details — user notifications often send to the {email} field from the form submission.
Step 5: Disable or Delete the User Notification
You have two options to stop user notifications:
- Disable the notification:
- Click on the user notification to edit it.
- At the top-right corner of the notification settings, you will see a checkbox labeled “Disable this notification.”
- Check the box to disable the notification without deleting it.
- Scroll down and click Save Notification.
- Delete the notification:
- If you no longer need the user notification at all, you can permanently delete it.
- To do this, click on the Trash icon next to the notification in the Notifications list.
- Confirm that you want to delete it when prompted.
Step 6: Test Your Form
After disabling or deleting the user notification, it’s a good idea to test your form to ensure the changes took effect:
- Go to the live form on your website and submit a test entry.
- Verify that the user (you) does not receive an email notification, while the admin (or other recipients) still does if admin notifications are enabled.
Additional Notes:
- Admin Notifications: Make sure that the admin notifications are still functioning correctly, so you continue receiving submission alerts.
- Conditional Logic: If you are using conditional logic for notifications, ensure the changes don’t interfere with other notifications tied to the form submission.
- Multiple User Notifications: Some forms might have more than one user notification. Check all relevant notifications to make sure they are disabled if needed.
