Enabling gzip compression compresses your website content into gzip files before sending them to your visitor’s browser. It can significantly improve the performance of your website and provide a better experience to your visitors.
We enable Gzip compression by default on all Ecenica shared-hosting plans with cPanel.
Mod_deflate (also known as mod_gzip) can reduce the data used to send files by up to 90%, significantly reducing the amount of time required to download your web pages. As the files are smaller it uses less bandwidth and means your mobile visitors will use less of their mobile data allowance.
Mod_deflate is available on all Ecenica shared-hosting including our Cloud Hosting and WordPress Hosting. As well as our Managed Cloud Servers with cPanel/WHM.
How to enable mod_deflate cPanel
- Log in to cPanel.
- For help accessing your cPanel see Where do I log in to my hosting control panel.
- Click Optimize Website.

Select Compress the specified MIME types.
- Copy and paste the following into MIME Types:

- Click Update Settings.
How to disable mod_deflate in cPanel
- Log in to cPanel.
- For help accessing your cPanel see Where do I log in to my hosting control panel.
- Click Optimize Website.
- Select Disabled.
- Click Update Settings.
The Optimize Website setting applies to all websites on your cPanel account.
