The raw website access logs show you the visitors to your website and what pages they visited. You can use these logs to trace the steps of specific users.

Steps to view your raw website access logs

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click Raw Access
  3. Under Download Current Raw Access Logs, click the domain you’d like to download the access logs for. The logs are separated into SSL and non SSL domains.
  4. Your web browser will download your website’s compressed access log in GZIP format.
  5. Uncompress the file and open the log file in your text editor or log viewer app.

Configure Raw Access Log archiving

By default, the system will process raw access logs daily and delete old access logs. If you wish you can retain older access logs by enabling raw access log archiving. With archiving enabled the system will compress and archive log files to your account’s logs directory daily. The only requirement is free space to store the log files.

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click Raw Access
  3. Check Archive log files to your home directory after the system processes statistics
  4. Click Save

Optionally you can check Remove the previous month’s archived logs from your home directory at the end of each month. to remove older raw access log archives to save storage space on your account.

Download Archived Raw Access Logs

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Click Raw Access.
  3. Click on an archive under Archived Raw Logs to download it.
