How can I set up a Coming Soon page whilst I create my WordPress site?

In this article we’ll show you how you can quickly set up a ‘Coming Soon’ page on your WordPress website. The coming soon page provides instant content as well as hiding the rest of your site from public view whilst you develop it.

Steps to Set Up a Coming Soon Page in WordPress

  1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard
  2. Click Plugins > Add New
  3. Search for LaunchPad
  4. Click Install Now next to Launchpad – Coming Soon & Maintenance Mode Plugin
  5. Click Activate
  6. You’ll be taken to the plugin settings where you can begin customising your new ‘Coming Soon’ page.
  7. Click the Activate Launchpad slider.
  8. Enter a Launch Date for your website.
  9. Click Save Changes

Add Your Logo to Your Coming Soon Page

  1. Click the Look & Feel tab
  2. Tick the Enable logo checkbox
  3. Click Choose File
  4. Select your logo image from your computer.
  5. Click Save Changes

Add a title and Description

  1. Click the General tab
  2. Type a title into the Introduction Title field. For example, “Coming Soon”
  3. Enter a short description about your new site into the Introduction Copy field.
  4. Click Save Changes

Change the theme

  1. Click the Look & Feel tab
  2. Click the Theme drop-down box and choose a theme.
  3. Click Save Changes

Add a Background Image (Optional)

  1. Click the Look & Feel tab
  2. Tick the Enable background checkbox
  3. Select one of the existing background images, or click Choose file to upload your own.
  4. Click Save Changes

How-to remove the countdown timer

  1. Click the Page Elements tab
  2. Untick Count Down Timer
  3. Click Save Changes
