How-to fix wrong email time stamps in Outlook 2011

Problem

When you receive email using Outlook 2011 for Mac your emails in your Ecenica Email account show the time you downloaded the email and not the time you received the email.

Symptoms

  1. Outlook 2011 for Mac
  2. Email timestamps are wrong. For example an email sent at 09:00 instead uses the date and time you downloaded the email

Cause

Outlook 2011 lists emails in your Ecenica Email account by the time they’re received or downloaded instead of the time they’re sent.

Resolution

To resolve this, sort the emails by Date Sent instead of Date Received.

In Outlook 2011 for Mac

  1. Open your Ecenica Email account’s inbox
  2. Right-click on the Date Received column header
  3. Select Date Sent from the menu
