If the Appearance, or Plugin menu options are missing from your WordPress Admin area it might be due to a number of reasons.

Verify Administrator Privilege

First ensure that you are logged in using a WordPress user account with administrator privileges. Only users with administrator roles have access to manage themes (Appearance) and plugins. See WordPress Roles and Capabilities

Troubleshooting

If you still do not see the Appearance and Plugins options in the WordPress Admin menu, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Clear your browser cache and cookies to ensure that you are viewing the most up-to-date version of the WordPress Admin panel.
  2. Disable any browser extensions or plugins that may interfere with the functionality of the WordPress Admin panel.
  3. Check for any recent updates or changes made to your WordPress installation, themes, or plugins that could potentially affect the visibility of the Appearance and Plugins options.
  4. Try accessing your Appearance, and Plugin admin pages using their urls. For default WordPress installs the Appearance page is at https://www.example.com/wp-admin/plugins.php (replace example.com with the domain of your site) and the Plugin page is at https://www.example.com/wp-admin/plugins.php (again replace example.com with the domain of your site). If these do not exist check your Theme for a setting which may be disabling these pages.
  5. Login to FTP, or use our File Manager, and check for the existence of the WordPress Plugin folder (wp-plugins). If this is not present you should consider reinstalling WordPress.
  6. Rollback to a previous backup. Use our JetBackup tool to restore your site to any snapshot in the last 30 days. Check your plan for eligibility.
