When you try to send an email from your iPhone or iPad you receive the message “Mail Sending Failed. Rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying”. Your email is not sent and moved to your Outbox.

This message appears because your iPhone or iPad does not have the correct sending SMTP settings.

To fix, follow the steps below:

  1. On your iOS device go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
  2. Tap your email account and then tap Account.
  3. Tap SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server.
  4. Tap Primary Server.
  5. Tap Username and enter your email address.
  6. Tap Password and enter your email password.
  7. Tap Done.
  8. Tap < Account.
  9. To save your changes tap Done.
