How to Fix WP Super Cache Homepage Downloading As File

When I view my WordPress homepage with WP Super Cache enabled, the homepage is downloaded and not displayed.

Problem

When I view my WordPress website in my browser, the page downloads and not displays.

Symptoms

Viewing your homepage results in a file being downloaded to your device.

Solution

Disable file compression in WP Super Cache settings.

  1. Login to your WordPress website.
  2. Click Settings > WP Super Cache.
  3. Click Advanced tab.
  4. Uncheck “Compress pages so they’re served more quickly to visitors. (Recommended).
