How-to Fix 503 Valid RCPT command must precede DATA

I see a 503 Valid RCPT command must precede DATA error when I send email.

When you send an email from Outlook you receive an error message:

503 Valid RCPT command must precede DATA”

Steps to fix “503 Valid RCPT command must precede DATA”

  1. In Outlook, click File
  2. Click Account Settings > Account Settings
  3. Select your Ecenica email account.
  4. Click Change…
  5. Click More Settings…
  6. Select the Outgoing Server tab
  7. Check My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
  8. Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server

  9. Select the Advanced tab
  10. Change Outgoing server (SMTP) to 465
  11. Set Use the following type of encrypted connection to SSL
    outlook-change-smtp-port
  12. Click OK
  13. Click Next
