In this article we’ll provide the steps for you to clone a WordPress website to another domain or sub-domain on your Ecenica web hosting account. This is useful if you want to make a development or staging website you’ve built live or wish to duplicate or move a website to new domain.
Before you start
If you are cloning your WordPress site to a new domain or sub-domain please add these first and ensure they are connected. This will ensure the domains appear in the drop-down list in step 5:
Steps to clone a WordPress website
- Log in to your Ecenica Dashboard
- Click Manage next your Ecenica hosting service.
- Click WordPress Manager .
- Click the down arrow to open your website’s options.
- Click Clone.
- Select the protocol and domain you wish to clone your WordPress to. E.g. https://www and yournewdomain.com. Leave In Directory blank or choose a sub-directory you wish to use for to access your cloned website, for example, enter blog to access your cloned WordPress site at yournewdomain.com/blog
- Optionally choose if you wish to disable Search Engine Visibility on your cloned WordPress website. Useful if you wish to stop search engines such as Google indexing your website whilst you develop it.
- Click Clone Installation.
