In this article we’ll show you how to edit, add and delete MX records in cPanel.
Edit MX Records
- Log in to cPanel.
- For help accessing your cPanel see Where do I log in to my hosting control panel.
- Click Zone Editor
- Click Manage next to the domain you wish to edit
- Select MX from the Filter to only show your domain’s MX records.
- Click Edit next to the MX record you want to change. The default MX record is mail.example.com
- Enter the new Priority and Destination changes for your existing MX record and click Save Record.
Add MX Records
- Login into your Ecenica cPanel control panel. See Where do I login to my hosting control panel
- Click Zone Editor
- Click + MX Record next to the domain you wish to edit
- Select MX from the Filter to only show your domain’s MX records.
- Click the Arrow next to Add Record and select Add MX Record.
- Enter the Priority and Destination fields for your new MX record and click Add Record
Delete MX Records
- Login into your Ecenica cPanel control panel. See Where do I login to my hosting control panel
- Click Zone Editor
- Click Manage next to the domain you wish to edit
- Select MX from the Filter to only show your domain’s MX records.
- Click Delete next to the MX record you wish to remove.
- Click Continue to confirm.
How long does it take for my MX Record change to appear?
Your domain name will be instantly updated with your new MX record. However if you can’t see the change on your PC or Mac then it’s likely your ISP has a cache of your old MX records. Please allow 48 hours for these DNS caches to clear.
